Inexperience pack for XP

Inexperience pack for XP

This is about make WinXP look just like Win2k, NOT Vista or Mac OS.
Here is a webpage that indicates a way by a right-clicking on desktop, choose Properties and change to Windows Classic Theme… well, it ain’t what I really want it be! Somehow it seems changed XP back to Windows 2000 color scheme, menu styles. Actually I just don’t like XP iconset and its color scheme, it sucks! Although most people do like it. Microsoft has ending Windows 2000 lifecycle and Bill Gates wants us to pay a serious attention on XP and coming Vista.

Here is a package called “Inexperience for XP” (something like that), I downloaded a copy about a year ago, it actually is a shell modification pack that replaces XPs resource files with their counterparts from Windows 2000. It definitely designed for a few people other than me who might wanna use the older style (better on a newer OS), because they find it to be cleaner and more usuable, or simply out of a preference for the pixel-art style. Unfortunately the developer has stop its update for some reason and his website no longer served :-(

Anyway, it works fine on both of my desktop and laptop computers for a year, especially my laptop runs more smooth than under XP default theme, also it can still take advantage of XP’s power saving, wireless & herbination features at the same time.

DOWNLOAD THE PACK!
times downloaded, Approx. 1.89mb

Usage

1. Extract the archive somewhere on your hard drive.
2. Run hack-o-matic.bat. (Hack-O-Matic will take care of modifying the system files, creating an uninstallation backup, and rebooting your computer.)
It’s that simple! Enjoy it!

Uninstallation (In case you don’t like it at all)

“restore-o-matic.bat” will restore your system files to the state they were in when you installed the shell pack last. If any operating system updates have come out in the interim, you’ll want to take a trip by Windows Update after uninstalling the pack.

2 Comments So far, want to say something?

  1. It’s definitely worth to try out if you’re miss w2k style interface. This pack will transform your XP to exact win2k styles: icons, color schemes…
