Like many of you guys, it’s an usual thing to spend 1-2 hrs with your laptop on the bed, watching movies, browsing around or even check out your porn newsletters… I’m actually quiet happy with an off-keyboard experience - some mouse-clicking work, until I’ve encountered this: Safari does NOT have a GO button (both FF and IE does).
It actually brought me another issue: I have to leaning on my pillow and hit Enter key. I just about installed that bitch Safari (no offense Mac user, I still love you!) for few weeks and this is all I get? Hello, Steve, focus! Yeah, I know. you’re about going to saying something like:
If you are changing the address, you usually need to use the keyboard, right? So if your nasty fingers are already at the keyboard, why not just hit Enter?
Well… you don’t get it, like I mentioned before, I really enjoy that moment of mouse clicking experience, comparing with Firefox and IE browsers so I’ve did a little research by googling, it seems there is no way to having that little green button back on Safari, I give up on this.
I’ve switch back to Firefox and try to keeping me happy. One thing for sure, I’m not judging the quality of Apple, personally I’m not familiar with OSX, please do let me know if there is some alternative way to make it happened. I’m glad that you can share it with me.

Uhm.. I think your impersonation of Steve was spot on. That’s exactly what he would say.. because that would be logical. No offense, but its pretty pointless if you just typed the URL in to not just hit enter. =)
Jan 29th, 2008 at 6:54 pmi new version firefox this problem is the same…
Jan 29th, 2008 at 7:41 pmI think they are going for the minimalistic approach. But you’re right, they should have an option to add it if desired.
Jan 29th, 2008 at 7:42 pmI spoted the problem too and tried to find a go button for several times but failed.

Feb 1st, 2008 at 4:03 amClearly if you typed the URL you can just press enter, but if you copied-and-pasted a URL into the address bar using the mouse, you don’t want to go to the keyboard just to press enter. Really annoying!!!
Feb 4th, 2008 at 12:50 pmI didn’t have the chance to use safari .. but is a nice tip.
Feb 6th, 2008 at 7:34 pmUse the reload button as the ‘Go’ button in a newly opened tab.
Mar 24th, 2008 at 11:40 pmI noticed the missing button in firefox 3 as well. Personally I use the button quite frequently as a page refresh when I am developing a site.
The problem with the refresh button that IE has, and perhaps the new refresh in FF, is that it wants to submit the form information again. What if I just want to GO to the same page again…. Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut to just GO to the page you are on, essentially refresh it without re submitting the form information?
Mar 28th, 2008 at 6:44 pmTo everyone:
Firefox 3 still has the “GO” button. When you type or copy/paste in the address bar a “blue” arrow appears where the star normally is, they just simply integrated the button into the bar.
I would like to have a “GO” button added to safari.
